S16.E48: I'm Obsessed with Staying Young - True Life [V]

I don't usually watch True Life, but I happened to catch this particular set of trainwrecks.

I don't really know where to start here.  I guess Chanel was the easier of the two, with her wobbly accent (I'm surprised her awesome grandmother didn't make some comment about that, but I guess they're used to it), and her interest in cosplaying as Elizabeth Bathory.  Her boyfriend must be a saint.  And--while I don't know if there's a sensitive way to say this--I kind of wondered if she'd been bleaching her skin.

Marcus...hoo-boy.  Where to start?

In a small way, I have some sympathy for him, because I had the impression that he was part Asian and hated that.  The gay community seems to mostly either dismiss or fetishize Asian men, and so I can see how that could mess him up.  But damn, the preternaturally smooth skin was incredibly creepy.  And yeah, it was messing up a kid (still a kid no matter what he thought) who had been really cute before he lost his mind.

There's nothing wrong with either sex work or porn, but there's a big problem with doing those things while you have a partner who doesn't want you involved with it.  Especially when you're able to delusionally rationalize it that your partner will magically be okay with it in the end.  I hate armchair shrinks, but that kid has a personality disorder.

Wasn't wild about seeing Devine getting physical with him, but I do understand his frustration and wanting to get away from Marcus.
